Day 12 of the #CharitySpotlightFortnight asks us to show our highlight so far. Where do we start with 2017?! In February the iconic voice of our Life President and Co-Founder Bob Wilson aired twice across the nation in our first BBC Radio 4 Appeal. In March we saw our biggest and best London Football Awards yet, with footballing royalty from across the capital joining us at Battersea Evolution for the event, which was hosted by Gary Lineker and raised over £200,000 for Willow. Then in May a record 850 cyclists took part in the Herts 100, a 100-mile bike ride around Hertfordshire.
However our highlight of 2017 so far has to be the Virgin Money @londonmarathon. 30 incredible individuals ran the 26.2 mile course for Willow and raised enough money between them to fund 175 new #SpecialDays. If running that distance wasn’t a challenge enough, the fabulous Jackie Scully (@creative888) – who enjoyed a Special Day of her own in 2014 - married fiancé Duncan on the Cutty Sark that morning before running the marathon in her wedding dress, designed by Willow ambassador @frankisk8. The newlyweds were one of the marathon’s key stories and featured on TV, radio and print, allowing more people than ever to hear about Willow.

Signed up for an 8 week fitness programme and nutrition guidance starting in september. I will no longer doing slimming world because I feel like I'm not reducing my portion sizes and not getting a healthy balance of foods. Considering my goal is to lose weight and increase fitness ready for The London Marathon, I feel that the best way to go is a full, nutritionally balanced diet alongside some intense training sessions with support when I need it.
In no way do I believe Slimming World is bad, it's very good for people who want to lose weight however I don't (at this time) feel like it's right for me with the goal I've set myself. I personally feel that SW is great to lose weight but to actually reach my ultimate goal I need to get my nutrition, portion control and gym programmes correct.
The problem I find is that SW focuses on food in a way where, you can eat as much as you want as long as it's free food. I don't feel that's right. We shouldn't stuff ourselves just because we can and it's free food! Just my opinion and it has taken me a few days of thought but I am feeling really positive about this! I will be carrying some of my SW stuff over to incorporate into my new routine, though! 🕴🏋🏻♀️🏆
