#WisdomWednesday#WednesdayWisdom “A sucker is born every day,” and other sayings like it simply mean that there will always be someone to take advantage of. This saying is absolutely true whether it’s referring to business transactions or even in friendships and relationships. There is always someone who is too trusting, naïve, or gullible and can be persuaded into doing things that aren’t in their best interest. The question then becomes, how should we act, knowing that there are people who will fall for anything? “Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely, who conduct their affairs with justice.” We are given the option of taking advantage of people or treating them fairly. We hold that power. The Bible encourages us to conduct our affairs with justice and be generous. It promises that good will come to those who do. It certainly will, even if sometimes it doesn’t happen right away. I believe that is one of the challenges when it comes to this. Read how the chapter continues and be encouraged: “Surely the righteous will never be shaken; they will be remembered forever. They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord. Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear; in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.” Taking advantage of people often pays immediate benefits. They get what they want without having to work hard or wait long for it. But those of us who choose to take advantage of others should also be warned. There are negative consequences for treating people badly, and if we are guilty of this we need to ask forgiveness. “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.” – Galatians 6:7 0 ♡ 0 ✍
