This is one of the biggest/best lessons I have learned in life - though it took me a while. Have you ever had a toxic friend (or family member) who did nothing but make you feel rubbish and bring you down, maybe even doubt yourself? I’ve put too many people on a pedestal in the past only to learn the hard (and often, hurtful) way that they just don’t really care .
My advice to you is, remove those who people who don’t add value to your life, from your life. You don’t need drama - it can often be done discreetly, but don’t allow your headspace to be consumed with toxicity/self doubt/low self esteem/lack of confidence caused by *anyone* (friend, family member, colleague!).
Instead, take time to find your tribe and surround yourself with likeminded people who add value to your life. Folk who listen to you mindfully when you are offloading - people who don’t mind you feeling sorry for yourself every once in a while. Friends who get it 😊👭
And it doesn’t matter one bit if that tribe happens to be online. We live in a digital age - so don’t beat yourself up for being a billy-no-mates if you find yourself actually making more meaningful connections with people online, than you do in real life. Because that’s really OK. Ask any of the girls in our private Facebook group (any of you #ALLlovelies here reading this?).
