|| Jump Rope Workout: 10 variations ||
Some of you wanted to know what the jump rope bit of my warm up looked like, so I thought I'd break it down for everyone here.
It's usually 100 reps each of any 10 variations/ 100 reps of any 5 variations if I'm spending more time on mobility.
So I'm calling this a workout bc back when I was doing my first round of #BBG, this is what I'd do for #HIIT, because there was no way I'd ever run back then 😂
Talking about running, I think this is a great speed workout too for any runner.
You guys know I didn't do any running for a whole year on my fitness journey. When I did finally start, I had skipping to thank, because it's helped keep me light on my feet (one of my favourite @fitgirl.india compliments 🙊).
Also, how cute are these shorts by @adidas x @stellamccartney! Def one of my favourites to run in, which is funny because I didn't think I'd wear them as much when I first got them. They're so incredibly comfortable with their built in tights, and airy enough to allow you to really mooove. And even if you have a runner's butt, the waist makes sure these shorts stay in place (so I've heard) 😂
They're also reflective enough to make sure I don't get run over on the road when I'm running at strange hours of the day in the dark. 👌🏽
Now, if you're new to this, I have some advice that I hope you find helpful:
• If you're just starting out, you cannot get disheartened if you fumble every 5 reps. I did too, I promise!
As with everything fitness-related, skipping is yet another thing that you can only get better at with consistency. So put in some work whenever you can.
• You ONLY need to jump a *few* inches off the ground! I know tripping and falling over your rope is every beginner's biggest fear, but you've got to get over it if you want to get better.
• Maintain soft knees for low impact, & try to land softly on the midsoles of your feet so you can rebound off the ground quickly.
• Um.. try to not break things around you. everysingletime 🙄
