Part 2 of 2
2. The workload. For the amount of students that will be in this "module", will the number of capable staff increase proportionally? Even now I'm already seeing the gradual wear and tear. If there is true belief that students should have a holistic development, there should be more resources, not less. It blows my mind to observe major increase in workload, decrease in resources, and increase in expectations! Is it efficiency or fantasy? Spend some time in the office and quietly observe the environment. Numbers do not fully reflect the real situation. Good people are leaving or have left, are those not signs?
This is a student development programme. I always believe a student's voice needs to be present during the discussions about the direction of this programme. Adults might "know best", but much like social media marketing, no one knew there would be such a thing 10 years ago. Shouldn't a student's current input be invaluable to the change and adaptation of the programme?
But I understand. This is still a business. Business and education is a tricky thing to balance, and there are no easy or quick solutions to this. I just hope in my lifetime I will be able to discover or at least contribute towards the discovery of the perfect balance between the two, if there is a balance at all.

From university's internal paper.
Part 1 of 2
I joined the SHINE Award Programme since March of 2015, became very active after participating in the 11th SHINE Discovery Session (32nd SDS was just over). Became part of the first batch of SHINE Ambassadors, and am currently in my 2nd and probably final term at this role.
I have observed and experienced most of the changes to the programme, the good and the bad.
Regarding the upcoming change of this programme to be integrated into the curriculum next year (after which I will have already completed my studies), I have two major thoughts.
1. In terms of the big picture, having a "module" like this could get more students involved in their own personal development and be more globally aware, which is a good thing and is what Malaysian youth need. But, it could also reduce the number of truly interested students. When this programme become a "module" with credit hours and the like, does that mean students will be paying for it? There's a distinction between learning because you wanted to, against learning because you paid for it.
Recently I was at a talk, and a lecturer asked the speaker why there is a lack of enthusiasm to participate from students who are taking the MPU module - Community Service Initiative. It's a module that promotes "giving back to society". It was an easy answer. Students were forced to do it. And many times, students were not able to explore and find exactly what they are passionate to volunteer for, nor were they convinced of the need to give back to the society. Of course the participation level would be mediocre.
If this "module" gets the reputation of being "easy to pass", the number of students will inflate, the number of learners however, will either remain the same or reduced because of limited spaces.

Seen this today and I agree so much. I watch as women gloat about how they put their kids first and their husband second. "There's no way I'll choose my husband before my kids" or "My kids will always come first no matter what". That's not how Yahweh intended families to be. God, Husband, Wife then kids. In that order. It really saddens me that as generations are created this concept becomes less meaningful. When you marry your husband you become one with God. A unit. Nothing and I mean nothing (even your kids) are suppose to come in between that. #justmythoughts8 ♡ 12 ✍

So, here's the deal kids. I'm going to be who I am, and you be who you are, okay? If you don't like what I'm posting on my social media pages, please feel free to unfollow me and/or unfriend me - it won't hurt my feelings. What does hurt my feelings are comments left that show your judgment of me and the way I live without having lived my life or my experiences. We are not in charge of anyone's choices but our own. And, since we are all in this thing called life together, let's try to help each other along instead of looking down our noses at those who may not live the exact same way we do, or believe the exact same way we do. Peace. #nojudgmentzone#loveandacceptance#justmythoughts4 ♡ 0 ✍
